Children have always been my passion and career. This passion has led me to teaching and serving vulnerable children of the inner cities of St. Louis and Los Angeles to rural Tennessee, Atlanta, El Salvador and the island of Cebu, Philippines.
My career started at age 19, in the inner cities of St. Louis, Missouri. For a decade, there, I ministered to vulnerable children and co-founded the well known anti-abuse, gang and drug program, “Drugbusters.” Throughout the years, this program educated hundreds of families and empowered kids to report abuse, stick together and resist drug use and sales.
I became licensed in Christian Education, worked as an elementary school teacher, daycare director, school chaplain and 30 years as a children’s pastor and family ministries director.
Most recently, I became frustrated with the lack of education, training, resources and support available to parents with vulnerable children. Help is available for the children, but often times not for the parents.
I decided to become certified in Parent and Family Coaching through the John Maxwell Group and Dr. Deborah Tillman and trained as an Enneagram coach for parents. I now teach parenting workshops and classes that empower parents to do family better.
Additionally, Michael, my husband of 24 years, and our 2 biological sons became a foster family. Over the years, many children came through foster care and went back to their families; however, with no family to return to, we adopted 2 of those foster children and then a ‘bonus’ daughter, who joined our family at age 18 after having been estranged from her first family. My husband served the senior pastor at Mountain West Church in Tucker, Georgia for the past 18 years where we've been raising our 5 children.
As of January 2022 my 3 adult children are on their own and thriving, my two younger children have moved with us to Tennessee as we prepare to become missionaries later this year.
My goal is to help better equip parents who need new strategies. A collaborative approach to parenting is used, in addition to parenting education and providing resources, tools, support and guidance tailored to address the challenges of each individual familiy I work with.
